Kate Hudson's ex-husband is to be a father for the second time.

The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson and his girlfriend Allison Bridges are expecting their first child together early next year.

Chris, 42, already has a five-year-old son, Ryder Russell, with Kate.

She wants Ryder to have a sibling, so she brought up the idea to Alex and told him that they would make a beautiful baby together, and that she would assume all financial responsibility

Kate and Chris divorced in 2006 after six years of marriage. The following year, Chris started dating Allison.

Meanwhile, the 'Bride Wars' actress is reportedly desperate for a new baby of her own.

The blonde beauty has been dating New York Yankees baseball star Alex 'A-Rod' Rodriguez since May and is keen to start a family with him.

A source said: "Kate just turned 30 and she's ready to have her second child. She wants Ryder to have a sibling, so she brought up the idea to Alex and told him that they would make a beautiful baby together, and that she would assume all financial responsibility."

However, Alex - who already has two daughters, Natasha, four, and 16-month-old Ella, with his ex-wife Cynthia - wants to wait before having any more children.
