Research By Tia Maria Highlights The New Trend Of ‘Swags’ - Sophisticated Women And Girls
Research unveiled today by Tia Maria, to launch the search to find the face of its new ad campaign, claims that since future princess Kate Middleton’s arrival into the public eye, young women are turning their back on WAG culture in favour of a more sophisticated lifestyle.
When quizzed about who they would most aspire to be like, Kate and classy actress Emma Watson topped the poll, with English rose Keira Knightly coming in third.
Past and present WAGS such as Danielle Lloyd, Abbey Clancy and Katie Price came bottom of the pile.
Furthermore, when asked which male they would most like to have a cocktail with, a mere 1% of women picked England’s football captain Rio Ferdinand, whilst Hollywood actor Johnny Depp came out as the most desirable date receiving nearly a third of the vote (32%).
The research went on to discover that Kate Middleton is the ultimate role model for young British women as she received 17.5% of the vote when asked who they find most attractive, she was just pipped to the post by screen siren Keira Knightley who received 17.85%.
Ex-WAGS Katie Price and Elen Rivas, who is currently dating Peter Andre, both featured bottom in the poll. Furthermore, almost two thirds of women (61%) said they would not want to marry a footballer and nearly 70% said they would find it offensive if someone said they looked like a WAG.
Focusing on appearance only 23% of young women favoured WAG staples such as hair extensions and fake nails, and over three quarters (83%) claimed that they would rather look sophisticated than like a WAG.
Tia Maria has highlighted the death of the WAG and the rise of the SWAG as they team up with 25 year old, platinum selling singer and actress Paloma Faith to launch ‘Beyond the Mask’, a search to find the next face of their ad campaign.
The competition aims to find someone who is the anti-WAG and embodies the brands essence of sophistication, intrigue, exoticness and playfulness.
Paloma Faith, who is renowned for her own unique style commented “I welcome the move away from WAG culture and towards elegance and sophistication.
"I’m very honoured to be helping Tia Maria with their Beyond the Mask search."
A representative for Illva Saronno said, “The research we have commissioned provides an interesting insight into the death of the WAG culture and what inspires women in this day and age. With our search we hope to champion sophistication once again.”
