Winslet's designer dilemma
0Comments | Comment on this Article
Kate Winslet thinks it is morally wrong to buy expensive designer handbags. The British actress is uncomfortable splashing her cash on must-have Hollywood fashion accessories like the Chloé and Prada bags carried by the likes of Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton.Kate - who lives in London with her director husband Sam Mendes, their two-year-old son Joe and Mia, her six-year-old daughter from her first husband Jim Threapleton - thinks it is disgusting that people can spend so much money on items they don't really need. She told Britain's Grazia magazine: "I'm not a big luxury person. We don't have seven cars and 25-bedrooms at our house. That would make me extremely uncomfortable."The other day, I met a woman who had a handbag that cost $2,000. My first car cost less than half that and I thought that was a lot of money! I'm not trying to be humble, but I morally could not spend $2,000 on a bag. I'd rather spend it on school fees."
