Katy Perry made her sister tell their parents she was releasing 'I Kissed a Girl'.
The 'Firework' hitmaker couldn't bring herself to tell her pastor mother and father, Keith and Mary Hudson, about her risque single title in 2008 so avoided a confrontation by asking her sibling Angela to pass on the news.
Angela said: "When Katy decided that 'I Kissed a Girl' was going to be her first single, I said, 'Have you told mom and dad?' And she said, 'No, but can you?' "
Katy's father admits he was "concerned" when he heard the news because he feared it would affect his work, but insists the pop star's image has never impacted on him.
In a clip for Katy's forthcoming concert movie 'Part Of Me: 3D', Keith said: "I was a little concerned, yeah, 'cause I thought my ministry after 30-something years is over. But, you know what? Never had a problem."
Katy, 27, also insists the track never had any affect on her relationship with their family.
She said: "I think people love the idea of 'a good girl gone bad'. And they think my parents have disowned me, but that's not the story at all."
