Kelly Rowland has been named Rising Icon at the Black Women in Music awards.
Kelly Rowland has been honoured at the Black Women in Music awards.
The 30-year-old singer - who performed her Grammy-nominated single 'Motivation' at the annual Essence magazine event - wore a one-shouldered Orange gown to receive her Rising Icon accolade.
Kelly - who found fame as a teenager in girl group Destiny's Child - was recognised for her longevity in the music industry, and told the Daily Mail she was "humbled" by the honour.
Former Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams turned up to show her support, insisting she could not be prouder.
She said: "We normally like to give each other our space but when Kelly told me she was being honoured, I she said that I had to be here."
Band mate Beyonce did not make the event, but Michelle said she is already in great shape since giving birth to daughter Blue Ivy last month.
Michelle added: "She looked amazing! You know that she had a six-pack before she gave birth so there's muscle memory. But she looked in fantastic shape already.
"I had a great time meeting Blue Ivy. I hugged her and kissed her and squeezed her. She's so beautiful."
Meanwhile, former Mowtown boss Sylvia Rhone - who helped the careers of Metallica, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Jason Mraz to name a few - received the Trailblazer prize for her pioneering work in the industry.
