Kings of Leon say their band is exactly like being in spoof rock group 'Spinal Tap'.
Kings of Leon say their band is exactly like being in 'Spinal Tap'.
The 'Sex on Fire' musicians have made their first documentary, 'Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon', about their career and rise to fame, and bassist Jared Followill and guitarist Matthew Followill admit they have had their fare share of comedy moments, like those depicted in 1984 spoof film 'This is Spinal Tap'.
Jared told BANG Showbiz: "Oh, we are Spinal Tap, totally, I don't know how they got that film so perfect."
Mathew added: "You'd think the actors were in a band, maybe they were in a band before, they nailed so perfectly, it was like the beginning years of our band."
In 'This is Spinal Tap' the haphazard eponymous group are seen getting lost in a maze of corridors as they try to reach the stage to play an arena, one of their members gets stuck in a stage prop leaving him unable to perform and a number of the band's drummers die in increasingly strange ways including a "bizarre gardening accident".
Jared added Kings of Leon - which also includes his brothers Caleb and Nathan - can directly relate to some such incidents.
He added: "Spinal Tap was a huge downward curve the whole film, and when you're in a band coming up you see the same people and go through the same venues and have the same complaints, it's really funny."
'Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon' will be premiered at over 150 UK cinemas simultaneously on June 25, followed by a live question and answer session with the band from the Edinburgh Film Festival. Tickets to see it are available now from www.talihinasky.co.uk
The film will then be on general release from July 1.
