Kristin Cavallari won't be spending Christmas Day (25.12.11) with fiance Jay Cutler because he's working and she's with her family.

Obviously it's not great. But it is what it is. The past year has been interesting. There have been a lot of ups and downs, but overall it's been great.

The 'Hills' star - who called off her engagement to the Chicago Bears quarterback earlier this year before they rekindled their romance - says she won't see her beau over the festive period as he's at work and she's with her family.

She told Us Weekly magazine: "I won't be with him Christmas Eve or Christmas, but I'll be with my mom and that whole side of my family. Jay, unfortunately, is playing in Green Bay on Christmas Day.

"Obviously it's not great. But it is what it is. The past year has been interesting. There have been a lot of ups and downs, but overall it's been great."

Kristin says she's looking forward to planning their wedding next year but wants it to be different to the nuptials the couple were initially planning before their break-up.

She said: "We're just enjoying being engaged. We were definitely planning the first time, but I can't plan the same wedding. I need to do something entirely different."
