Kidman To Young To Be A Legend Sneers Bacall

Nicole Kidman felt the sharp edge of her co-star Lauran Bacall’s tongue having to put on a brave face in front of a hostile media compounded by a public verbal slap her co-star.Veteran Bacall, who plays alongside Kidman as her mother in their film Birth, dismissed her co-star as a mere "beginner".The 79-year-old took exception when a British breakfast television journalist, recalling the cinema greats who had worked with Bacall during her 60-year career, described Australia's Hollywood A List star Kidman as a "screen legend". Bacall retorted "She's not a legend, she's a beginner. What is this legend? She can't be a legend at whatever age she is. She can't be a legend, you have to be older."Earlier, tensions were obvious at a press conference to promote the film at the Venice Film Festival.Initially Bacall was greeted by a standing ovation as she entered the room. But as the conference progressed, it became clear the assembled journalists were far more interested in 37-year-old Kidman.Meanwhile, while the crowds outside the Palazzo cinema on the Venice Lido greeted Kidman with cheers as she stepped on to the red carpet for the film's world premiere, the preview screening was met with a chorus of boos from the audience of journalists.source Australian
