Lauren Bacall slams today's Hollywood stars

Lauren Bacall has slammed today's Hollywood stars - for their huge entourages. The veteran actress can't stand the massive number of hangers-on that accompany many celebrities everywhere they go.She said: "They have their entourages of managers and press relations people. It's today's world, but it's not my world. "I was in a better situation. I was married to Humphrey Bogart and I was a very happy female. But we had no PR, no entourage. Bogey, Henry Fonda, Bette Davis, Spencer Tracy and James Stewart never had it. The great stars of motion pictures never had all the garbage they have now." Earlier this week, Bacall snapped when 'Birth' co-star Nicole Kidman (pictured) was described by a journalist as a "screen legend".The 79-year-old star, who has acted in over 50 movies in her 60-year career, appeared to be furious at the comment and dismissed the Oscar-winner as a mere "beginner".Bacall - who also worked with Nicole on 'Dogville' - cut off the British reporter mid-sentence and interjected: "She's not a legend. She's a beginner. What is this 'legend'? She can't be a legend at whatever age she is. You have to be older."However, despite her outburst, the 'Murder on the Orient Express' star insisted she and Nicole are firm friends.

She said: "We worked together on 'Dogville' and we were friends when we started this. That laid the groundwork for our fabulous relationship both on and off screen."
