Lemar wins big at Mobos
R&B star Lemar walked off with two top prizes at the prestigious Mobo Awards last night (22-05-05).The singer - a former contestant of British tv reality talent show 'Fame Academy' - picked up accolades for Best Album and UK Act of The Year at the star-studded event at London's Royal Albert HallThe singer - who was nominated for five Mobos - beat stars like diva Mariah Carey, Joss Stone and Estelle to take the awards.
The 27-year-old said he was "over the moon"He added: "This is so unexpected, I'm taken aback"
Up and coming star Kano scooped Best UK Newcomer
Rap heavyweights 50 Cent and The Game left empty-handed after being beaten to the Best Hip-Hop Act gong by unsigned London rapper SwayThe 22-year-old said: "We are proud of our British heritage and if someone like me can get on MTV it gives hope to British kids"
