Louis Walsh hopes he will finally be able to get over Stephen Gately's death in the New Year.

The music mogul - who managed Stephen's group Boyzone - was left devastated by the pop star's shock death in October aged just 33 but hopes he will be able to move on in 2010.

He thanked me all the time. He was the only one who thanked me properly. I am completely broken. I don't know how I'll get over it.

Louis said: "I just want to be happy after Stephen's death. But what I've learnt from his passing is you have to make the most of what you have."

At the time of his untimely passing, Louis admitted he had lost his "best friend" in Stephen.

The 57-year-old star - who is a judge on UK TV talent show 'The X Factor' alongside Simon Cowell - said at the time: "I lost my best friend. He didn't change. He would do anything for his fans and he was the glue in Boyzone that kept them all together.

"He thanked me all the time. He was the only one who thanked me properly. I am completely broken. I don't know how I'll get over it."

Stephen was laid to rest on October 17. His funeral service took place at the St Laurence O'Toole Church in Dublin, Ireland, and was followed by a private cremation at the Glasnevin Cemetery.
