'Desperate Housewives' star Marcia Cross' husband has cancer.

Stockbroker Tom Mahoney - who married the actress in 2006 - has been diagnosed with the potentially life-threatening disease and is seeking medical advice.

Marcia's representative Heidi Slan said: "He is currently under treatment and is responding very well."

She said: I think that beauty comes from being happy and connected to the people we love

The couple - who have twin 23-month-old daughters, Eden and Savannah - have not released any further details about 50-year-old Tom's condition.

Marcia recently credited her success and happiness to her husband.

She said: "I think that beauty comes from being happy and connected to the people we love. And his love makes me feel beautiful."

The 46-year-old actress also revealed that motherhood has given her a fresh outlook on life.

She said: "I'm deliriously happy. I mean, I'm scarily happy. Oh my goodness, I mean life is so precious so I just value every day and every gift."
