Marcia Cross' daughters photograph the contents of their potties to show their father.

The 'Desperate Housewives' actress - whose husband Tom Mahoney is currently undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer - has revealed two-year-old twins Eden and Savannah were so proud of their toilet achievements they asked her to capture them on film so their dad could see.

She laughed: "Tom was getting treatment in hospital, and let's just say we took pictures of what went in the potty to show daddy. He's a very proud papa!"

Marcia says the girls have been instrumental in helping Tom cope with his illness, revealing he was delighted when they came to visit him during a recent stint in hospital.

She revealed on US TV series 'The Bonnie Hunt Show': "I was sort of apprehensive, but we just wanted to make it really normal. We didn't tell them where they were going in case we had to change plans, but they came in and they were so happy to see him. They just wanted to explore everything. It was great. It's the best medicine. They don't know what a hospital is, they don't care. It's just, 'There's dad!' "

Although her daughters are young, the 47-year-old actress insists they already have distinct personalities and know exactly what they like.

She explained: "One of them was face down in the crib and she said, 'Another song mama?' And I'm just thinking, 'Go to sleep I'm exhausted!' And so I start singing 'Rock a Bye Baby', and I hear, 'I'm not a baby anymore, mama.' I'm like, 'OK, fair enough.' "
