Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have started university.

The twin sisters, who shot to fame in US TV show 'Full House', will begin their studies at New York University this week.However, the pretty actresses will not be staying at the university's halls of residence - as they have purchased a $7.3million penthouse apartment in Greenwich Village to live in during their four-year course.Although the twins are the most famous of all the students enrolling this year, their star status hasn't really been noticed.Bret Nolan Collazzi, editor-in-chief of Washing, the university's daily newspaper, told America's E! Online website: "I guess it's all part of the New York attitude of not gawking."The spokesman for NYU's Gallatin School of Individual Study, where Mary-Kate and Ashley are studying, says they will make it their priority to give them as normal college education as possible.Other stars to have studied at the university include John F. Kennedy Jr, Alec Baldwin and model Christy Turlington.The twins' enrolment at NYU comes after an eventful summer which saw them celebrate their 18th birthday and Mary-Kate receive six weeks of treatment at a Utah clinic for a reported eating disorder.

She was discharged last month and is now said to be making a full recovery.
