Massive Attack Survived 90s

Massive Attack nearly "imploded" in the 90s.

The Bristol-based group - who have collaborated with numerous music stars, including Madonna and Neneh Cherry - have revealed inter-band fights became so intense they nearly gave up.

Grant Marshall - who is now only joined in the group by Robert Del Naja after third member Andrew Vowles, also known as Mushroom, quit in 1999 - said: "Oh yes, we were definitely on the edge of imploding. There didn't seem any point remaining friends."

Similar problems emerged during the making of their last album, 2003's '100th Window', after Marshall became a new father and had little input into the record.

He added: "Luckily, we came through it because it turned out that the bond was stronger than that moment in time."

After getting over their troubles, Robert believes it is now unlikely the pair will split now.

He said: "We're family. We've had some moments, but we got over them."
