Violet (Jenny Platt) and Jamie (Rupert Hill) are totally loved up but agree to keep it a secret until they tell Sean (Antony Cotton). Meanwhile, Sean’s psyching himself up to speak to Violet about his decision to be a dad to the baby and not just the donor. However, when they all meet for a drink that evening, Jamie and Violet get in there first with their announcement, telling an unhappy Sean that he can relax now knowing that the baby will have a dad and a proper family. Sean’s aware how this affects his chance of being a father to the baby, and makes his excuses before rushing out of the pub. Will he accept their decision and give up his own dreams of fatherhood? Claire’s (Julia Haworth) nervous at the singles night and ends up getting very drunk while Lloyd (Craig Charles) leaves with a girl. After confiding in Sally (Sally Whittaker) about where she was going, she calls her. Sally's busy with her lesson with John (Graeme Hawley), so she sends Kevin (Michael Le Vell) to pick Claire up. As Kevin arrives inebriated Claire calls him her knight in shining armour before clumsily attempting to kiss him. As they arrive back on the street, she’s sobered up enough to be mortified. As Ashley (Steven Arnold) opens the door to her she breaks down in his arms. Claire reveals to a startled Ashley that she tried to kiss his best mate, before telling him that she still loves him. Will Claire realise Ashley's the one for her and go back to her husband?Liam (Rob James Collier) arrives back and everyone’s pleased to see him, not least Carla (Alison King) who has clearly missed having him in the factory. However, she appears slightly put out when she arrives at the pub to see how happy Liam is with Maria (Samia Smith), who is delighted to have been showered with gifts once again. Does Carla still have feelings for her brother in law?Elsewhere, tensions are starting to show between Liz (Beverley Callard) and Michelle (Kym Ryder) in the overcrowded pub, and Fiz’s (Jennie McAlpine) suspicions about John and Sally rub off on Kevin.
