Rapper Will.I.AM refuses to travel with a big entourage - because he doesn't need to draw attention to his celebrity status.The Black Eyed Peas star is baffled by the hip-hop trend to be surrounded by a large group of pals at all times, and insists employing heavyweight security men to guard them would only restrict his enjoyment on the road.He says, "People sell a lot of records and then have to have these huge body guards that can't even run they're so big, and we've sold way more than they did."I don't need that, I'm just having fun".Meanwhile the singer and hip-hop superstar Will.i.am realised his family were dirt poor when classmates turned up at his door with offerings from a canned food drive.The Black Eyed Peas star, real name William Adams, never had any idea his mother was struggling because she always insisted on buying him the best clothes and making sure her four kids didn't go without anything.But the family's fortunes came into question one autumn.The Where Is The Love? hitmaker, now a multi-millionaire, tells Giant magazine, "One day I said, 'Mom, we gotta take canned foods to school.' She was like, 'Boy, you ain't taking no canned foods to school.'" The future hitmaker protested, but realised his family was among the needy benefiting from the canned food drive when two school pals showed up at his door.
He adds, "That's when I knew we were poor".
