Michelle Williams Worked Through Grief

Michelle Williams threw herself into work to cope with Heath Ledger's death.

The 'Brokeback Mountain' actress - who is mother to Heath's three-year-old daughter Matilda - kept as busy as she could in an attempt to avoid thinking about the actor's untimely passing due to a accidental drugs overdose last year.

She said: "Work can be great to get you through certain crises. To have something that you have to show up at and something that generally passes the time."

Although work helped Michelle through her grief, the former 'Dawson's Creek' star - who has two films coming out this year - admits she has struggled to find a balance between work and family life since becoming a mother.

Work can be great to get you through certain crises. To have something that you have to show up at and something that generally passes the time.

She told Total Film magazine: "I stopped feeling creative a little while ago and I was just running on fumes. I didn't realise it though. I thought somebody else would step in and say like, 'Oh, you're exhausted. You have burnt out. Take a break.' But you have to be your own monitor of that. I just realised I have to stop and hopefully refuel."

However, the beauty - who is nine months into a year-long break from work - is finally rediscovering her creative spark.

She added: "I can just notice the change now - sometimes my head just starts to click again. I start to get curious about a character or a person. It's good. But I'm not getting antsy. Not yet."
