Moby wanted to be a scientist when he was a child.
The 'Play' hitmaker considered several career paths when he was growing up, before settling on the music business after being inspired by punk band the Sex Pistols.
Any type of scientist would have been good
He said: "Up until I was 13 I wanted to be a scientist. Any type of scientist would have been good. After 13, I really wanted to be a guitar player. I saw a Sid Vicious video and it scared me so much I decided to form a punk rock band."
Moby - real name Richard Melville Hall - began studying classical guitar when he was a teenager.
The accomplished musician and DJ then went on to learn to play piano and drums.
Meanwhile, the 43-year-old star says he wishes he had written the 70s disco classic 'I Feel Love'.
He explained: "I adore that Donna Summer song. It is just so simple but also remarkable. It somehow manages to be platonic and dirty at the same time."
