Street Kings 2

Street Kings 2

The movies the cops tend to be the good guys there to uphold the law and lock up those who break it.

But every so often one who is corrupt to the core comes along to throw a spanner in the works. So to celebrate the release of Street King 2 we take a look at some of the most corrupt cops to grace the big screen.

- Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) in The Departed

Colin Sullivan is introduced to a life of crime and by mobster Frank Costello, who got him on side at a very young age.

Acting like a father figure Costello trains Sullivan, played by Matt Damon, to become a mole in the Massachusetts State Police - where he works in the Special Investigations Unit.

But while Colin is acting as an informant to Costello the state police have a mole of their own in the mobster's outfit.

The Departed was released back in 2006 and brought together an impressive cast of Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg and Martin Sheen - in a movie that was directed by Martin Scorsese.

The movie finally saw the filmmaker pick up a Best Director Oscar as The Departed also went on to scoop best picture.

- Alonzo Harris (Denzel Washington) in Training Day

Denzel Washington has delivered powerful performances throughout his entire career - but Training Day remains the role that he is best known for.

Detective Alonzo Harris is a highly decorated LAPD narcotics officer who takes Jake Hoyt under his wing.

But Jake soon realises that Harris is not as clean cut and law abiding as he first seems as he fails to hand over drugs before going on to steal drug money.

For Washington's superb central performance in the Antoine Fuqua directed movie he picked up a Best actor Oscar

- Norman "Stan" Stansfield (Gary Oldman) in Leon the Professional

Gary Oldman remains one of the greatest British actors currently working in Hollywood and his performance in Leon still ranks as one of the great performances of his career.

Stansfield is a corrupt DEA agent who murders Mathilda's (played by Natalie Portman) entire family. She enlists the help of hitman.

The Luc Besson movie still remains a classic in the this genre with superb performances from all of the cast.

- The Lieutenant (Harvey Keitel) in Bad Lieutenant

Harvey Keitel hit the big screen as The Lieutenant back in 1992 in the Able Ferrara directed movie.

While investigating a young nun's rape, a corrupt New York City police detective, with a serious drug and gambling addiction, tries to change his ways and find forgiveness.

The Lieutenant struggles to deal with his addictions in a great central performance from Keitel, a role that he is still remembered for.

The story was retold last year with The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans (starring Nicholas Cage) but the movie wasn't s sequel or a remake.

- Marty Kingston  (Ray Liotta) Street Kings 2

Ray Liotta stars as Marty Kingston in this action-packed sequel to 2008’s Street Kings. Fate is out to get Kingston (Liotta, Goodfellas) when, after saving the life of his partner during a drugs bust four years ago, the same man is brutally murdered by a masked gunman who disappears without a trace.

Kingston is forced to team up with hotheaded homicide detective Dan Sullivan (Shawn Hatosy, Bad Lieutenant) to investigate the murder, but when the rest of their team start getting killed off one by one their case becomes a race against time!
