P. Diddy has made friends with the man he is accused of punching at a New York party.The 37-year-old music mogul was seen amicably chatting with Steven Acevedo - who told police Diddy hit him twice in the face in the early hours of Saturday (13.10.07) - at New York's Butter nightclub on Monday (15.10.07).With the pair's relationship seemingly repaired, Diddy failed to surrender himself to police on Wednesday (17.10.07) to face a misdemeanour charge of third-degree assault. Diddy's lawyer Benjamin Brafman is optimistic the charges will be dropped and the matter will not result in criminal proceedings.Brafman said: "We are hopeful that this matter will be resolved without the filing of any criminal charges as this was a disagreement among acquaintances, not a criminal assault."Police sources say it is unlikely authorities will file charges if Acevedo, 31, decides to retract his statement.Acevedo initially told police he and Diddy got into an argument over a woman while partying at Kiosk - a high-end store that hosts exclusive parties at night.
