Pamela Anderson has teamed up with animal rights protestors in a boycott of US fast-food giants KFC. The former 'Baywatch' babe, who is a vegetarian, has narrated a new 5-minute video produced by prominent animal rights group PETA documenting the mistreatment of chickens which eventually are served in the chain's eateries. In a statement released by the sexy blonde yesterday (26.04.05), she says: "I'm asking people to boycott KFC until the company demands that its suppliers stop crippling chickens and scalding them alive. "No animals should have to suffer this way, whether they're cats or dogs or chickens." The film can currently be seen on www.KentuckyFriedCruelty.com and a 30-second version of the video - which features graphic images of birds being mistreated at a plant that supplies KFC - is also set to be made TV and radio ads that will air in the US. The 37-year-old actress has become a prominent defender of animal rights in recent weeks. Earlier this month, Anderson caused a stir after refusing to get into a lift with a woman because she was wearing a fur coat.
The stunning blonde had been launching her new cruelty-free clothing range at the lavish The Palms hotel in Las Vegas, when the incident occurred.
PETA spokesman Dan Mathews said: "An elevator stopped with two people inside, but one of the women was wearing a fur coat. 'Going down?' the woman asked, to which Pam replied, 'Yes, but not with you, lady. Get rid of the fur.' "
