Filming is due to start at the end of this year but it isn't yet 100 per cent clear if the former Libertines singer will accept the role.
The source added: "As well as Kate being his main priority, he still wants Babyshambles to be a huge part of his life.
"While Kate encourages Pete with everything he does, she would much prefer him to keep his music career as his main focus."
