Pete Wentz - who has a 16-month-old son, Bronx Mowgli, with his wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz - thinks the knife, which is usually fitted over a rifle, is much safer than just having a gun in your home.
He tweeted: "I really wish bayonets were primary weapons still. I feel like I'd be good at using one and it's practical home defence."
According to Pete, the advantages of having a bayonet at your house is that you are unlikely to kill an intruder if you use it, as opposed to firing a gun.
I really wish bayonets were primary weapons still. I feel like I'd be good at using one and it's practical home defence.
In another posting on his twitter page, he wrote: "I mean you don't bayonet somebody by accident and no one gets killed cleaning a bayonet."
Personal safety is something that is often at the forefront of Pete's mind.
The 30-year-old musician previously confessed he is convinced he is going to be murdered and sometimes won't open his front door because he is paranoid someone is there waiting to kill him.
Pete - who suffers from bipolar disorder - said: "I refuse to answer my front door because I'm convinced someone is going to murder me.
"I used to think that some day I'd end up murdering a close friend or relative. Now it's reversed and I'm convinced it's going to happen to me.
