Pierce Brosnan is splashing out £6.5 million on a state-of-the-art mansion.

The former James Bond actor is building a new home in Malibu, California, and is keen for it to include all the latest high-tech gadgets and features.

A source said: "Pierce has always loved technology and playing Bond only cemented that love. He says this will be his dream house and it will have every possible boy's toy imaginable, plus a few for his wife Keely Shaye Smith.

It will have a high-definition home theatre which Pierce says will rival anything out there for clarity and sound. And the security system is going to revolve around pressure sensors in the flooring and infrared lights.

The two-storey property will also have a basement gym, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a music room and games room as well as a library which includes a walk-in cigar humidor.

The 'Mamma Mia' star has also planned for the home to have wireless and Bluetooth connectivity and a touch sensor garage to house his luxurious motors.

The source added to Britain's Mail on Sunday newspaper: "Pierce will be able to open the main gates and the garage doors while he is still driving down the freeway. Everything will be linked to a central computer that he can control even when he is outside the house."

The mansion will be located on a stretch known as Billionaire's Row and his neighbours will include Cher and Mel Gibson.
