Primal Scream were the big winners at last night's (18.09.08) Vodafone Music Live awards, taking home two honours.The Scottish rockers picked up Best Live Act and Outstanding Contribution to Music - presented to them by The Clash rocker Mick Jones - at the London ceremony, which was hosted by British TV presenter Steve Jones and singer-and-actress Juliette Lewis.Primal Scream bassist Mani joked: "These awards are handy for keeping doors open in the house. They also look better than garden gnomes so I have a few of them strategically placed around the garden. "We're the best live band in the Britain, so we deserve it."The band closed the ceremony with a three-song set, culminating in an explosive version of 'Rocks'.Other performers on the night included Pussycat Dolls, Will Young - who treated the crowd to a rendition of his new single 'Changes' - rising Scottish stars Glasvegas and XFM Live Breakthrough Act winners The Ting Tings.Despite cancelling a string of North American dates, the Spice Girls picked up Best Live Return, beating off stiff competition from veteran rockers Led Zeppelin, The Verve and James.
