Queen Latifah wants to adopt.The actress, who voices the character of Ellie in new animated film 'Ice Age 2: The Meltdown', is desperate to be a mum and wants to give a disadvantaged child a better start in life.Latifah, 36, is determined to adopt by next year because her maternal urges are overwhelming.She said: "I've cleared my schedule and it's going to happen soon. God willing, I will be a mum by this time next year. I definitely plan on going through with adoption."Latifah is not the only star hoping to adopt.Jessica Simpson has also recently revealed her plans for to become a mum - without giving birth.The 25-year-old singer-turned-actress wants to raise a child, despite filing for divorce from husband Nick Lachey last December.

Jessica has been inspired to adopt by Angelina Jolie, who is a mother to two orphaned children, Maddox and Zahara.

She revealed: "I want to adopt, and I plan to adopt before I have my own kids.

"I think Angelina has done amazing things, and the international adoption rate since her actions has jus skyrocketed.

"It's unbelievable."
