Ray Winstone's eight-year-old daughter taught him how to use a computer.

The 'Beowulf' actor's youngest child Ellie forced him to get to grips with modern technology so the pair can keep in touch while he is away working on films.

Ray, 52, said: "She has taught me how to use a computer. She's eight! I couldn't email or nothing like that beforehand - and I never wanted to either.

But other times it gets you out of the house, doesn't it? When it all kicks off you just go down the pub. It works both ways and you can make it work to your advantage.

"But I got a computer so when I am away I can see her when I am talking to her. And she has taught me how to use it, how to email, how to download, the lot. I am a bit of a whiz kid now."

Ray - who has two other daughters with wife Elaine, 26-year-old Lois, and Jaime, 23 - also admitted things can get tough for him in a house full of women, and is sometimes driven out of his home to avoid getting involved in rows.

He added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "You get knocked down all the time by them. There are times when you just want to go and camp down the garden.
