Razorlight Take On Drummer

Razorlight are set to go head-to-head with their former drummer - and are terrified they will lose.

Frontman Johnny Borrell is reportedly furious the group's record label Universal have offered Andy Burrows a solo deal after he quit the band earlier this month, and insiders are predicting the 'America' hitmakers may lose out in the charts if they both release new albums at the same time.

A source said: "Johnny's arrogance could come back to haunt him because there are plenty of people at the record label who want to move over from Razorlight's account to make sure Andy gets the recognition he deserves."

Both Razorlight and Andy are expected to begin recording new albums at the end of summer, when Razorlight finish festival commitments and Andy has assembled a backing band.

Johnny's arrogance could come back to haunt him because there are plenty of people at the record label who want to move over from Razorlight's account to make sure Andy gets the recognition he deserves.

Although no names have yet been confirmed to work with Andy, his previous 'Colour of my Dreams' charity solo album and supporting concert saw contributions from artists

including The Bluetones singer Mark Morriss, The Editors frontman Tom Smith and Muse drummer Dom Howard.

News of an album clash is likely to further fuel animosity between Andy and Johnny.

Andy spoke out last week to say his time with the group had been "hell".

He said: "I hated being in the band. Johnny and I didn't get on. Now I've got my freedom. He never wanted people to know we both wrote songs and I couldn't be in control. I'm happy again now."
