Redmond O'Neal has completed his court-ordered drug treatment programme and has promised to remain ''clean and sober''.

Redmond O'Neal has completed his court-ordered drug treatment program.

The 25-year-old son of Ryan O'Neal and late actress Farrah Fawcett appeared at a Los Angeles courtroom on Thursday (12.08.10) to mark his graduation, where he hugged Superior Court Judge Michael A. Tynan and thanked everyone who stood by him throughout his ordeal.

In a statement released by his lawyer Richard Pintal, Redmond said: "My plan is to move forward with my life, clean and sober. I am going to do so privately and with as much quiet dignity as I can."

My plan is to move forward with my life, clean and sober. I am going to do so privately and with as much quiet dignity as I can.

Redmond completed the program - which included 12-step instruction, group therapy and one-on-one counselling - last month, but still has another two years' probation to go.

In May, Redmond was released from the Impact Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Pasadena, California, and was moved to a sober living environment.

His lawyer said: "It's a big, big day for Redmond. Redmond has come so far. He's really feeling great."

Last September, Redmond was moved from jail to the rehab centre for a one-year-residential program.

In January, he was arrested on drug charges when he was let out on 24-hour leave and sent back to jail.

After one month, he went back to the facility, where he has been ever since.

While there, he penned a note in which he vowed to turn his life around.

He said: "My plan is to go back with a new attitude and leave my old ideas behind. I am committed to doing this thing."

Redmond previously received treatment at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, California, for a January 2008 drug arrest.
