Rio Ferdinand to Set New Record

Banned England and Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand plans to launch his own record label.The Manchester United and England defender, currently banned for missing a drugs test, has been spending the past few months delving into the world of music.The £30m-rated star is also having a recording studio built in his house in Alderley Edge, Cheshire. He's already recorded a number of urban tracks and is close to coming out with his own label, said a source, reports the Daily Star.With a lot of spare time on his hands since receiving his ban, Rio decided to invest it in music and decided that he would like to start his own record label.Manager Alex Ferguson may not view the project with to much sympathy,with the new football season due to kick off this Sunday. Although Rio will still be missing for the first few weeks Ferguson will be expecting the player to make an immediate impact on the pitch and will not relish his top defender distracted.Rio's friends in the music industry include DJs Spoony and Trevor Nelson, with whom he has been honing his rapping skills this year.
