Robbie Williams is to stage a £10 million comeback tour.
The 'Angels' singer has decided against reforming with his old band Take That so he can play a series of solo dates at London's O2 arena next year, the same venue where Michael Jackson is performing 50 shows later this year.
A source told Britain's News of the World newspaper: "He wants to blow Michael Jackson and Take That out of the water with his comeback tour. It's going to be huge. He wants these shows to help re-establish him as the King of Pop.
"Robbie has been itching to get back in front of a live audience since he started writing his new album two years ago. He's planning to put on a super show to win back all the fans he's lost."
We'd all love to do something. It will happen, I just don't know when.
Following the lukewarm reception of his 2006 album 'Rudebox', Robbie has spent two years writing new material.
He has teamed up with ex-songwriter Guy Chambers on the record, and has also worked with super-producer Mark Ronson.
The 35-year-old singer has said of the new release: "It sounds big. I'm buzzing."
The new album will be released before Robbie's shows take place, in the hope it will win him new fans.
Earlier this year, it was claimed Robbie was set to reunite with his Take That bandmates - Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald - following the success of their recent comeback.
However, Gary - whose rows with Robbie were one of the main reasons why he quit the band in 1995 - has since denied a reunion is imminent.
He said: "We'd all love to do something. It will happen, I just don't know when."
