Robert Redford once dumped a destroyed car in Paul Newman's garden.
The 'Horse Whisperer' star admits he and the late 'Road To Perdition' actor enjoyed playing pranks on one another, but believes his best joke was when he mocked his friend's love of race cars.
Redford revealed: "Paul drove me crazy talking about racing all of the time. It just bored me to tears. So I went to a junkyard and said, 'Do you have a destroyed sports car and can you wrap it up, put a ribbon around it and leave it at Paul Newman's house?' "

Not to be outdone, Newman - who was a champion racing driver and formed his own team Newman/Haas Racing - had the vehicle crushed, giftwrapped in a giant box and delivered back to Robert.
Redford then had it turned into a garden sculpture and dumped back into his friend's yard.
The 72-year-old screen icon added: "It was really awful."
Newman passed away last September after losing his battle with cancer.
