Stewart To Wed At Burton/taylor Proposal Spot.
Veteran rocker ROD STEWART will reportedly wed his fiancee PENNY LANCASTER at the romantic Italian spot where RICHARD BURTON proposed to DAME ELIZABETH TAYLOR in the 1960s.
The former Faces star and model/photographer Lancaster are planning their nuptials in the Italian Riviera resort of Portofino, according to British newspaper The Sun.
Previous reports suggested the couple were also considering the southern Italian island of Capri.
A friend tells The Sun, "It's all been planned for 16 June in Portofino.
"They have hired a venue in the town and he is going to charter a couple of private jets to get his guests there. It is going to cost a small fortune but he wants it to be a memorable day."
Rumoured guests on the invitation list include Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish, Sir Mick Jagger and Paris and Nicky Hilton.
