The Who star Roger Daltrey believes Britain is becoming "like a prison".
The 64-year-old singer claims the huge number of CCTV cameras placed across the country are transforming it into a giant jail.
He said: "We live on an island with more security cameras than anywhere else in the world. If they cut our transport links I suggest to you that we're more like a prison than anything else.
"What does the government think these cameras are doing to our country? If it had produced anything but higher crime rates I would understand. But it hasn't!"
The Who will play an acoustic set at London's Albert Hall on Sunday (13.04.08), closing the week-long series of shows for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Daltrey, a patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust, started the annual charity event back in 2000.
