Rupert Friend's Carpentry Course

Rupert Friend is a trained carpenter.

The 27-year-old actor struggled to find work a few years ago, so decided to take a woodwork course to ease his boredom.

Discussing how he filled the hours when he was unemployed, Rupert told Britain's Elle magazine: "I took a carpentry course and made a spice wrack and a cutlery divider.

Michelle is a phenomenon. I mean, bl***y hell, she's Catwoman!

"So if everything with films goes wrong tomorrow I would start making things out of wood. I would be very poor and very happy."

Rupert can soon be seen starring alongside Michelle Pfeiffer in new movie 'Cheri', in which he plays Michelle's lover.

The British actor - who is dating Keira Knightley - was thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with Michelle.

He said: "I play her toy boy. The film is about the realisation that youth and beauty don't last.

"Michelle is a phenomenon. I mean, bl***y hell, she's Catwoman!"
