Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand have really landed themselves in trouble this week with their prank phone calls to Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs. The pair left a string of lewd messages on Sachs's answer machine claiming Russell had slept with his granddaughter and the calls were aired on Russell's BBC Radio 2 show. The dramatic aftermath has seen Russell quit the show, Jonathan suspended without pay for three months andFemaleFirst take a look at other celebrities whose extreme behaviour has gotten them into trouble. After appearing in Big Brother 3, Jade Goody was once the nations sweetheart. The public went crazy for her perfume, TV shows and book but after her second appearance on the show, this time the celebrity version, her popularity began to unravel. Before the show she was ranked 25 in a poll by heat for the most influential person in the world but when Jade, along with Jo O'Meara and Danielle Lloyd, was accused of racist behaviour to fellow contestant Shilpa Shetty, calling the Bollywood actress Shilpa Popadom her star began to fade.Ofcom received 44,500 complaints from members of the public on the behaviour, while Channel 4 received an additional 3,000 complaints. This year Jade entered the Indian Big Brother house in an attempt to make amends for her behaviour but had to leave early when she was diagnosed with cancer.Kerry Katona is another star whose behaviour has left jaws dropping.
Once a member of popular girlband Atomic Kitten, and winner of I'm a Celebrity... Kerry has changed almost beyond recognition.
The breakup of her marriage to former Westlife singer Brian McFadden resulted in a period of depression and drug abuse for Kerry for which she went into rehab.
She has since re-married taxi driver Marc Croft but not avoided controversy.
Kerry has been criticised for smoking during her pregnancies. She was spotted having a cigarette while pregnant with Heidi in 2006, which led to Kerry's spokesman admitting that she was still smoking four cigarettes a day and "desperately trying to stop altogether." She also said that she had consumed alcohol during her fourth pregnancy.
Towards the end of 2007 Kerry's popularity with the public had declined. She was voted the second worst celebrity mother in a poll in September, was forced to deny being on drugs following an unusual appearance on GMTV in October, and in November, she was voted the most irritating individual in Britain.
Her popularity took a turn for the worse last when she appeared on ITV's This Morning show. Her slurred speech forced host Phillip Schofield to ask her mid-interview if she was medically ok and several viewers rang in with concerns. Kerry blamed her unclear speech on having taken the prescription antipsychotic drug Chlorpromazine late the previous night, and according to the presenters was angry at having been asked about it on air.
She has since declared her anger at Phil and fellow presenter Fern, who asked if she had replaced her drug addiction with alcohol.
Another BBC presenter is in trouble this week. Frankie Boyle has being criticised for his offensive comments on Mock The Week. When asked to think of something the Queen would not say in her Christmas speech he adopted a high pitched voice and said: "I have had a few medical issues this year - I'm now so old that my p**** is haunted."
Other comedians in the show also offered suggestions, including Hugh Dennis saying the Queen would not say: "This year, I am in an unusual location - I am in a cave with Osama Bin Laden."
Dennis also offered the suggestion: "Yum, yum, I've just eaten a swan."
Russell Howard said the Queen would not say: "And now for an impression", before performing a version of Shaggy's reggae song Mr Boombastic.
A BBC spokeswoman said the show was a "well-established satirical comedy series" which sometimes built on "provocative humour".
