Russell Crowe's only regret for throwing a phone at a hotel clerk was having to apologise for doing it.According to the Australian star's publicist, Jack Marx, the fiery tempered actor was never sorry for the incident that took place at New York's plush Mercer hotel last June (05).Marx revealed: "He said it was humiliating, to have to show remorse when all he was truly sorry about was the fact that he was in so much trouble."The 'Gladiator' actor left hotel employee Nestor Estrada needing stitches after the pair got into an argument when Crowe went down to the desk to complain that his phone wasn't working. He later revealed he had become very agitated because he wasn't able to speak to his wife Danielle or say goodnight to his son, Charles.Marx told Australia's The Age website: "The concierge said 'Yeah, yeah, whatever', words, according to Russell, that are the 'lowest insult', meaning 'you are nothing to me'."The publicist also revealed he wasn't surprised Crowe had trouble calling his wife because his personal assistant would usually dial the numbers first for him.

The actor eventually pleaded guilty to third degree assault and paid Estrada

£55,000 in an out-of-court settlement.
