Russell Crowe has reportedly quit alcohol for goodThe Oscar-winning actor - famous for his hell-raising behaviour - initially gave up drinking for his role in the upcoming boxing movie 'The Cinderella Man'.
But a friend close to the star claims he has been so pleased with the improvement in his health since quitting, he plans to stay on the wagon.
The friend said: "He's thrown himself into the role and the whole training regime. He's getting a real buzz from all the gym work and eating and drinking properly."
Crowe is also said to have made the decision to quit for good after his beautiful wife, Danielle Spencer, commented on how much happier he seemed.
The friend added: "Danielle has noticed that he's really chilled out and seems happier than ever."
However, only earlier this month the 40-year-old actor got into trouble after he reportedly groped a string of women during a drunken night out in a Canadian bar.
Crowe allegedly begged a string of girls to kiss him while taking a break from shooting the boxing flick in Toronto.
The heartthrob was also said to have upset a number of other drinkers when he tore off his shirt and started shouting obscenities. One witness said at the time: "He was hammered, out of his skull, hitting on everything that moves."
