Sean Penn has taken on a new role - working as a reporter in Iran.

The Hollywood actor is in the Iranian capital Tehran to report on the country's presidential elections on Friday (17-05-05) for America's San Francisco Chronicle.Penn has been given a press credential by Chronicle Executive Editor Phil Bronstein - who was previously married to Sharon Stone - to produce a special report on the vote.The handsome star arrived in the Iranian capital last week, and was seen attending Friday (10-05-05) prayers at Tehran University where worshipping Muslims recited the chant of "Death to America"On Monday (13-05-05) Penn addressed an audience at Tehran's Film Museum saying he was being inspired by his time in the Middle-Eastern country.He said: "I came to Iran to write my news story and you gave me, here today, the idea to write my story.It is not the first time the Oscar-winning actor has worked as a reporter for the Chronicle.In November 2003, Penn visited neighbouring Iraq, shortly before Saddam Hussein was captured, and wrote a series of stories for the newspaper.
