Shannen Doherty "cried herself to sleep" when negative stories were written about her.The actress, who shot to fame playing Brenda Walsh in 90s US TV series 'Beverly Hills, 90210', attracted unwanted attention as rumours of her on-set spats with the show's cast and party-loving lifestyle began to surface.Shannen, 37, claims she was unfairly vilified as she was just behaving like any other teenager. She said: "I was exploring who I was as a person and testing my own boundaries and trying to be a normal 18, 19, 20-year-old, and I got raked over the coals. Many nights I cried myself to sleep over that stuff."The actress adds she was particularly upset over claims she had joined support group Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) because she was drinking too much.She revealed to Radar Magazine: "There've been so many lies written about me. One of those rags wrote that I had entered AA. They said that I was so, quote, 'scared of the drink' that I was sleeping on my sponsor's couch."I've never been in AA. I accompanied my husband to AA meetings - actually, I forced him to go to one - but I've never actually gone for myself. Sometimes you can find some truth, a little nugget somewhere, but not one thing about this was true. "But people sell their stories and make their 500 bucks at your expense, and it's like, 'Wow. Really?' "
