Sharon Osbourne Reveals Her Childhood Abuse.
Sharon Osbourne has opened up about the abuse she suffered at the hands of her music mogul father in a harrowing British TV interview.
The rock matriarch-turned-reality TV star spoke candidly during Monday night's (02Jul07) TV special Shrink Rap, hosted by actor/comedian Billy Connolly's wife Pamela, a clinical psychologist.
Osbourne told the one-time comedienne violence was a big part of her life growing up the daughter of music manager Don Arden, who oversaw the careers of acts like the Small Faces, Electric Light Orchestra and Black Sabbath.
She said, "I was surrounded by violent people, violent talk, violent behaviour, so there was nothing unusual seeing my dad threatening someone, or brandishing a firearm. It seemed normal. I thought everybody was like this. It was part of our lives.
"My father really had a temper. He had a voice which would echo through the entire house. A couple of times he would whack me and he used to yank my hair.
I wouldn't say I was abused and beaten; in those days it was a normal thing.
