Simon Le Bon braves deathly race
Simon Le Bon is set to take part in the same yacht race in which he almost died 20 years ago.At the time, Le Bon and his five team mates were said to be "lucky to be alive" by the rescue teams who saved them. But the pop star has laid all fears aside and is meeting with his original crew in Glasgow, Scotland, on Monday (16-05-05).
The yacht, originally called Drum, is being renamed by its millionaire owner Arnold Clark Drum. The businessman agreed to loan the boat to Le Bon and his crew after hearing they planned to enter the race - one of the world's most dangerous ocean challenges around the British Isles - to raise money for a lifeboat charity. The Fastnet race is 608 miles long, starting in Cowes, Isle of Wight on August 7 before the competitors pass the Fastnet Rock, off the coast of Ireland, and head back.
