Sir Ian McKellen is top gay

Sir Ian McKellen has been named Britain's most influential gay.The British actor has topped the 'Pink List - an annual ranking of gay men and women who are leaders in industry including the arts, media, politics and business.McKellen - who is best known for his movie roles in 'The Lord of the Rings', the 'X-Men' trilogy and 'Gods And Monsters - is also a tireless campaigner for gay rights.The actor has knocked flamboyant pop star - and fellow recipient of a knighthood from Britain's Queen Elizabeth II - Sir Elton John into second place.The list was unveiled a day after 40,000 people marched through the streets of London in the EuroPride parade.The event was held in London to celebrate the introduction of same-sex civilpartnerships.
