Mick Jagger's dad dies

Sir Mick Jagger masked his grief during a Rolling Stones concert on Saturday (12.11.06) following the death of his father Joe.The veteran rocker was preparing to join his bandmates on stage in Las Vegas, when he was told Joe, 93, had died in hospital, following a fall in his home nearly two weeks ago.Mick, 63, flew back to the UK from America after hearing about the accident last week, but returned to the band's tour after being told Joe's condition was improving. Despite the doctors' diagnosis, the former PE teacher - who Mick often described as the greatest influence on his life - died of pneumonia at 10pm on Saturday at Kingston Hospital in Surrey, England.Mick's spokesman said: "Joe Jagger died of pneumonia. The family would like to thank the hospital for their care and support."Three years ago Joe looked on proudly as Mick was knighted by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace.
