Stella McCartney's Linda inspiration

4 months ago 06th Jul 08:33

Stella McCartney is inspired by her mother.

The fashion designer says her late mum Linda - who died of breast cancer in 1998 - would be proud of her efforts to promote environmental issues in her work.

Stella, who is launching an eco-organic range of products, says: "I think mum would be really proud of me because I have actually done something in fashion. I've added to the McCartney pie. There's no one else who does what I do and I love that.

"My mother was amazing. So much of what I do and what I stand for comes from her and the way I was brought up. In the fashion world, I'm viewed as this mad hippy because I won't use leather or fur and I bang on about taking environmental issues seriously and being vegetarian."

Despite her eco-consciousness, Stella admits she still has a long way to go before becoming completely 'green'.

She added: "I'm not saying I'm perfect. I only have one recycling bin at home. I fly on planes. None of us can be perfect but, as mum always said, you have to do a little bit."
