Steven Tyler has been suffering from Hepatitis C for years.
The Aerosmith singer had been living with the potentially fatal blood infection for decades, but was only diagnosed with the virus three years ago.
He revealed in an interview with TV show 'Access Hollywood': "People have Hepatitis C and don't know. It's the silent killer."
The 58-year-old rocker had to endure a gruelling year of interferon treatments - an antiviral drug used to strengthen the immune system.
The singer also revealed his marriage to designer Teresa Barrick fell apart during his strict treatment regime - they finally divorced earlier this year.
He added: "I've been pretty quiet about this. You know, it really hurt. It was a bad, bad period."
Tyler - a recovering drug addict - is now confident that he has been cured.
