Sting Makes Daughter Hospital Dash

Sting is "beside himself with worry" after his daughter suffered a serious head injury.

The musician - real name Gordon Sumner - and wife Trudie Styler dashed to the intensive care unit at a Los Angeles hospital where Coco Sumner was taken after fracturing her skull last week.

The teenage singer was dining with a friend when she complained of feeling unwell. After standing up, she stumbled, hitting her head on a chair as she fell.

A source said: "Coco went flying and landed with a real crash. She really took a tumble. One of the waiters helped her to her feet but she complained that she didn't feel well.

"The staff and Coco's friend were very concerned and called for an ambulance and Coco was taken to hospital. No one was taking any chances as it was quite a scary fall. She hadn't had anything to drink and it happened quite early into the evening.

"The doctors are still running tests. Obviously it's a serious injury and Coco is under constant surveillance."

'Every Breath You Take' rocker Sting, 57 - who has two children from a previous marriage and three other kids with Trudie - was already in the US working on his next album, while his 55-year-old wife immediately flew from the UK to be with the 18-year-old aspiring pop star.

A family friend told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper: "Trudie and Sting were obviously beside themselves with worry. It was a blessing that Sting was in the States at the time and was able to get to the hospital so quickly. Coco is still very shaken but she is planning to come back to the UK very soon.

"She's a real daddy's girl and very close to Sting. He keeps a close eye on her. When he received a call to say there had been an accident there was panic all round. He dropped everything he was doing and rushed straight to the hospital."

A spokesperson for the family said Coco is "recovering well".
