'Superman Returns' director Bryan Singer has revealed he wants the sequel to the superhero blockbuster to be released by 2009.The filmmaker says he has already held talks with bosses at Warner Bros. about the follow-up to the hit movie, which stars Brandon Routh as the Man of Steel. He said: "We haven't concluded a deal. That's always iffy. But the intention is to do it for 2009."Singer insists he plans to take the series and its much-loved characters in a different direction, and compared his ideas for the project to the 1982film 'Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan', the critically acclaimed sci-fi sequel to 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture'.Speaking at the Comic-Con International, a comic book convention held in San Diego at the weekend, he said: "I plan to get all 'Wrath of Khan' on it."It is thought Routh, Kate Bosworth, who played roving reporter Lois Lane, and Kevin Spacey, who portrayed Superman's arch villain Lex Luthor, will all reprise their roles in the sequel.
