The 61-year-old actor decided to film in Burma to highlight the brutality the people living there have had to endure.
He added in a TV interview: "Burma is hell on earth. It's the worst place on the planet.
"I wanted to do a film about the poor tribes people who have been to war and slaughtered and mutilated for years. We talked to people like the UN and Soldier of Fortune magazine.
"We said, 'What is the worst place anyone knows about so we can provide entertainment but also awareness for these people.' "
